Default Disappearing List Bullets - 10-28-2005 , 09:41 AM

If you apply the float:left style to your li tags, the list bullets no
longer appear in IE6. Does anyone know a trick (besides background images)
to fix that behavior?

Bullets in lists are cranky things.

Have you tried giving a left margin to the <li> tag?

Yeah. I tried a margin. I tried using display:inline, display:block,
display:inline-block, and position:relative (not all at the same time,
obviously). They are certainly cranky.

But, the design requirements changed so the bullet needs to be on the right
now anyway. Since I still can't use a background image (they want a
gradient), I'll just have to insert an image tag after the text in each list
item. Such is life.

Thanks.

Make the bullet image be part of the background image of the <li> tag, and
use a padding-right on the tag to push the content to the left....

Or that.
I don't think I can make the bullet part of the gradient image, though.
Just for academic reasons, I still want to find a fix for the disappearing
bullets, but that's not important right now.
