Default Directory display problem - 07-07-2004 , 02:25 PM

Hi there. I've searched through the forums before opening this topic, but was
unable to find any posts that addressed my issue. Hoping someone here will know
a fix.

Each time I open Dreamweaver (MX version 6.0) the directory view (of all the
files in my site - in right-side window) seems to be locked in the open
(expanded) view state. I can view and edit all folders with no trouble, but am
unable to close certain folders. No matter how many times I close (collapse)
the folder, as soon as I click on a different folder/directory, that same
folder pops open again.

(Example: I open Dreamweaver and see that the 'Graphics' folder is open and
showing all the files and subfolders within it. I do not need the 'Graphics'
folder, I need the 'News' folder, so I click on the minus symbol to
collapse/close the 'Graphics' folder. It (acts like it) closes. I scroll down
to the 'News' folder that I *do* want to open and click the plus symbol next to
it to expand it and bam...I am suddenly looking at graphics files again,
because the 'Graphics' folder popped open when I clicked on the 'News' folder
and even the cursor/selection focus was brought back to the graphics folder.
Auuuuuugggghhhh!)

It didn't always do this. It only started after we had some server trouble and
our I.T. person had to come up and change my site information. The folders that
now insist on remaining open were the same folders that were open when he came
up to change things (over 2 months ago.) I have tried everything (reboot,
re-edit, asked the I.T. guy what to do or what he did and he has no idea why
this happened or how to fix it, etc.) and am at my wits' end. So veeeery tired
of scrolling through 159 graphics files to get to my News folder.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue and close the *bleeeep* folder? Any help is
appreciated. Thanks!

Can you upgrade to the DMX6.1 version?

No, can't get them to purchase the upgrade. The great news is that I figured
out how to fix it (of COURSE! After 2 months of irritation, simply asking in
the forum brought about the fix...duh!) and I will post it here in case anyone
else runs across the problem:

Close all directories. Go to "Site" menu and choose "Edit Sites" and click on
the site that you are having problems with. Click "Export" and choose a
location on your hard drive to save it to. Once it's saved, go back to the
"Edit Sites" window and click on the site (the one you're having directory
issues with) and click the "Remove" button. Site will be removed. Click "Done".
Open "Site" menu again, choose "Edit Sites", Click "Import" button and select
the file (site) that you just saved. Voila...you should have no more
folder-won't-freakin'-close issues.

Thanks and good luck!

~Gracie

And yes, I realize that I probably didn't need to close out of the window
before performing the import, but I wanted to make absolutely sure that I was
taking all necessary steps.
