Rolf:

Please tell me why you are using frames on this site?

You have a layer on that page which is 938px wide, enough to give you
scroll bars on most peoples computers.

The guidlines for the maximum width of a page, to avoid scrollbars, is
approximately 720px-750px.

Rolf:

1. to allow and deny scrollbars where I want.
Funny thing is that by using frames, you make this issue of scrollbars
worse, not better. To read about the crushing downside of frames go here -

http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php

Quote:
2. to fix the below picture bar/ but most time its empty
Then for goodness sakes, get rid of the frames.

Quote:
How ?
so why does one layer force the frame to show horizontal scrollbars ?
Because its content exceeds the specified width of the browser's viewport.

Rolf:

Why? This is a troubling decision.

Hi Murray,

i rearranged the site for proof an NO content element not even touches the
right side of the frame bur horrizontal scrollbars appear. but not in IE 5.5
!
http://213.47.118.168/index.asp?oben=news/news_content.asp&unten=navigation/
unten.asp&scrolling=AUTO

does IE 6.0 not understand marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" as frame
attribute eventualy ?

thanks for any inspiration
rolf
