Design View not reflecting colspan

I have a table with 2 columns.

One of the rows had a <td colspan=2> in it. In the design view, when I type
in this cell, it keeps moving to the next line when it hits the border of
where the end of the cell would be if it didn't span 2 columns.

It does display correctly in the browser, however?

Is this a problem with DWMX 2004?
