Our website is stats.co.uk. The default page for the site is default.htm.
We wish to promote a division of the company which has a folder under the
site named Geophysics. The URL for this would therefore be
www.stats/co.uk/geophysics. Is it possible to display a default web page in
a site folder. I don't want to have to advertise the ULR
www.stats/co.uk/geophysics/applications.htm
Thanks,

This will all depend on your host as to what they will allow you to do.
If they allow you to create your own .htaccess files then it's no
problem (search for .htaccess on a search engine if they do). Other than
that they might have a way of doing it their end.
If they won't let you do anything then the best thing you can do is make
a welcome page and link to the various pages within that folder.
