Default Daylight Savings/Time Zones and Site Sync? - 11-01-2004 , 02:19 PM

After the end of daylight savings time, Dreamweaver shows my local files for a
site as having a new time stamp of one hour newer than the remote files. Boith
server and client are using the same NNTP server so the time on each is the
same. Plus, nochanges to the files occured, so Dreamwever itself must be
reporting the change. How do I keep the local and remote site time stamps the
same? How do folks handle local/remote syncing for sites in different time
zones? Using DW 2004 on Mac OSX 10.3.X

If both computers agree on the time and time zone, you should be fine. The
only thing I can think of is that sometimes standard and daylight time are two
different time zones in the system (Central Standard Time vs Central Daylight
Time for example). I know our Cisco conference calling setup handles daylight
savings time like that. Of course, since we just went back to standard time,
that explanation is even less likely since the server with the separate
daylight zone would go to standard...

I just ran into this time zone sync issue myself. I am near Boston doing the
regular Eastern Standard Time / Eastern Daylight time thing. My hosting
company is in Arizona where they don't do daylight savings time. (The last
thing you need in the desert is more daylight.) After my machine changed to
Daylight Savings time Dreamweaver claimed that all files on the remote view are
newer that the local.

It seems that we need a feature that would allow us to specify the time zones
of both the local and remote views and the date range of daylight savings time
if any.

Yep - I saw the same thing.

DW should already know this from the GMT values....

I'm 3 hours ahead of my web host. In DW8 I *did not* set a Preference
for time difference from west coast to east coast. When the clocks
changed, I did nothing. My clock changed, so did the web host, we were
still 3 hours different.

My uploading works okay. In DW4, I did set +3 hours. Maybe I've been
lucky or just forgot to set this.
