Default Database in Website: Resources? - 07-08-2003 , 10:36 AM

Dear all,

I'm planning to introduce a database into my family website: just names,
addresses, e-mails, etc.

While in the long run I am hoping to learn how to use XML, I am assuming
that in the meantime I can use something a bit more user-friendly; however,
I'm still very unclear on how all the elements relate to each other. My
host, ipowerweb.com, supports MySQL, SQL, and PHP.

So, do I set up the database in MySQL and use SQL to have it interact with
the web site? What would you recommend, either book or web-based tutorial,
to get started with these concepts?

Or would it be smart to tackle XML now and use that--again, if so, where to
start figuring out how the XML and the CSS are used together? I have XML
Unleashed but it's taking a while to work my way through it.

Thanks in advance for any help!
