css in tables wont work properly?

I am doing the tutorials in dreamweaver and am currently working on the
cascading style sheets tutorial. My problem is this:

I have some text in a table and some text underneath not in a table - just in
the body. When i create a css and go to the font option, I can change the
colour of the font fine, but when i try the font size, the text in the table
doesn't change size, but the text not in the table changes.

Can anyone help me out?

check there is no font size declarations in the table itself?

No font size declarations anywhere, only in the css. Like i say, the style sheet does not change text inside tables

Which DW? It looks fine to me in DMX2004.

actually, I don't get the font-weight OR the font-size in the table, but

get the font-family and the colour.


But guess what? I wasn't previewing it, just looking at it in design view.
When previewing, it does show up, it's just DWMX doesn't show it in design
view - can change a preference so it will as it's a bit misleading in
design view?
