While it's true that Google Groups will no longer have the archive
of the (former) newsgroups, there's nothing stopping other sites
from scraping the contents of the new webforums.

Good point. A little extra work for the unscrupulous, but that never
stopped them before.

yeah, I didn't realize what it was and thought it was just another dreamweaver
support forum so I registered with the same info as I have on lots of other
forums. I'd never give away passwords that would have my bank info or anything
like that but it is info from other forums....

Interesting though... I had no idea about all that stuff.
