Default CSS INLINE, can you help me? - 11-04-2004 , 01:26 PM

Hello all,

I was wondering if someone could help me with a CSS issue.

I'm trying to create a page with two separate CSS roll/link effects. An
example can be found
http://www.capitolsquarevirginia.state.va.us/updated%20pages/css%20test.htm

As you can see, when you rollover the links, the color changes. My dilema is,
I want the link in the green box to be a different color when rolled over. I
know this requires changing the color in the CSS code. I just don't know how
to type this block of code with a P Style tag to have it only apply to the text
in the green box / layer.

Could someone show me the proper code for this operation or any other way to
perfom it.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Dick

Blimey, when I clicked on this and saw:

Read these -
I thought Murray had snapped and was being awfully rude.

Murray,

Hello again,
I checked out the links you provided and followed a tutorial on the Patty site.
I've posted my work
http://www.capitolsquarevirginia.state.va.us/updated%20pages/psuedo_class_test.h
tm

I can see the styles changing in the design view in Dreamweaver (the initial
link color anyway), but not in the browser window.
Is there something else I'm doing wrong?

Please let me know when you get a chance.
Thanks again.

I think I've almost got it.

Dick

:brokenheart;

Thanks Micha. I appreciate your time. I just don't know how to fix the code
using the references you've provided. I think I'm going to try this
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/css/pseudoclasses/

It looks like they got it to work in the browsers that I use. IE 5.2.3 for Mac
and Safari. So hopefully, I can do the same. I'm hoping this will work on the
newest version of IE on XP for the PC as well. I'll post back tomorrow when I
get to work and tackle this thing once and for all. I'm wondering if an older
version of Dreamweaver at work is causing the problem.

anyway,
Thanks everyone.
Any more thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dick

Hmm, the validator complains about some unknown colors. The spec defines
how RGB color values should be declared.

In short ...

you have: 9966 or something like that
it should be: #996600 or #960

Notice the leading hash sign and the number of digits - 3 or 6.
