Default CSS External Style Sheet: Moving from Mac to Windows - 11-08-2005 , 06:05 PM

Help!

I created my website using Dreamweaver MX with several wonderful external
style sheets on my Mac machine at home. When I opened up my site on my Windows
machine at work, it wouldn't even show my external style sheets. When I went
to manually attach them to my pages, it said it recognized the file as a binary
file instead of a text file.

Why is this happening and what do I do to fix it? Thanks a bunch!!

Should make no difference at all. Do you have the pages uploaded?

Uploaded to a server?

Yes. I uploaded through my Mac machine and it works GREAT!!!!

I went to demonstrate a feature of Dreamweaver to a friend today using my
files for my website and when I opened a page, only the CSS that was attached
directly to a sheet showed up in the Design box. Anything that I had saved as
an external sheet did not show up. I went to attach the CSS sheet, browed and
found my external style sheet but it refused to read it. It just kept popping
up a window saying I had chosen a binary file and I should be looking at a text
file. Arg.

It looks fine to me in IE6. I can see the results of both the external
stylesheet and the embedded stylesheet.

It looks fine on the web...my problem is when I take my files and put them on a
jump drive and take them to school and open them with dreamweaver on my
windows, it does not load the css file. It acts like it wasn't there. The CSS
sheets are on the jump drive but when I try to attach them to the pages, it
gives me the "looking for a text file instead of a binary file" message.

If it looks fine on the web, then something about your transfer procedure is
corrupting them. Please upload the page you have transferred along with its
CSS file, and post a link to them.
