Default css copy paste problem in Dreamweaver CS4 - 03-01-2009 , 04:16 AM

Having a problem in CS4 when I want to copy and paste things in my stylesheet.
Whenever I do ctrl +c to select a something the whole stylesheet gets
selected. And that is not what I want.
Even is I want to copy something from an other css into the css I am working
on it won't do the job.

Anyone having the same problem and found a solution?

I upgraded last week from CS3 to CS4. Had no problems what so ever in DW CS3.
Nightmare? it costs me a lot of extra typing
The only thing I changed in my preferences is adding a keybord shortcut: ctrl
+ q = save all.

Oke thanks for answering.
Did you open a plain css-file or did you open the css while first opening a .html file and click in bar where you can see the source code, the css, spry etc,?

I'm having the same issue, too.

When on a .css file, the 1st click selects the entire page of code. When
working on an HTML file I usually use split view and work in the code. Been
doing it this way for years - since DW4 - with no problems at all. Now CS4
wants to expand the section on its own 1/2 the time. It's very annoying and
makes copy/pasting blocks of code near impossible.

I'm on a Win XP Pro PC. CS4 Web Premium, 2MB RAM.

What's the deal? Is there a fix? Please help us Adobe, you're our only hope!

Hi Antonia,

I have a very similar problem. If I highlight source code and then either
press ctrl+c or use edit/copy a far larger amount of code becomes highlighted.
In some cases the entire file is highlighted and copied. This is very annoying
and is now causing major problems with productivity.

I run CS4 on two machines:
1: vista ultimate
2: XP professional
I have the same problem on both.

Adobe - have you any idea what may be causing this? I'm sure we are not alone.

Adobe will only see this if you communicate directly to them. This forum is
not the way to do that.

:disgust; Fill out the bug report form here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
We should all do it. Maybe if they get enough they might actually do something about it!

Have you already raised a bug report? If so then there is nothing to serve by
duplicating it, although as an app developer myself, I'm staggered that such a
serious problem has not been addressed before now!

I'm afraid I don't have as much sympathy as you. I did a clean install of CS4
onto the latest OSX and this bug has been a problem from the word go. It is
intermittent, but in my case that's 90/10% in the bug's favour. A quick Google
on the problem shows that it's been around for many months and that many people
are suffering because of it. When I have a customer report a serious bug I keep
at the problem until I solve it - and there's always a cause. With Adobe's
resources and turnover, they should be onto this one like a shot.

And another thing: why don't Adobe have someone permanently monitoring this
forum for problems? They should take a leaf out of Talk Talk's books, who have
a whole team of people scouring their forums looking for problems to solve.

Not to belabor the obvious, but it's important to realize that there are
many users who do not have these problems. Nobody posts to say "I have to
complain about not having this problem".

But to add insult to injury so to speak, I never saw this problem with any
installation of DW on G3/G4/iMac with OS going back to prehistoric
versions....

I don't deny that some people are suffering, but until a reproducible
pattern can be identified, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
There is probably some common feature, such as having a particular program
installed or service running in the background.

And another thing: why don't Adobe have someone permanently monitoring
this forum for problems?

The Community Experts monitor the forums and provide feedback to the
engineering team. I'm pretty sure it has been reported before, but I'll
report it again.
