Default CS4: FTP in DW continues to lose connection with server - even thoughserver still shows connection open... - 06-07-2009 , 07:28 AM

Ok, so basically I've tested this on three different servers, and it's
doing the same thing on each.

1 - Open my "site" within DW.
2 - Open a page, and make some changes. (FTP is open as I can view
the "Remote" side.)
3 - After I'm done making my changes, click "Put" to upload the
files.. and watch the connection errors, reconnecting, connection
error, reconnecting and then maybe after the third iteration, it
finally puts the file.
4 - If I click to disconnect from FTP - watch the connection error and
timeout - then click to reconnect, it connects and all is fine for a
few minutes or so.
5 - There is no set time for the loss of connectivity.
6 - Looking at the server side (I own one of them, so I can watch the
FTP connections), I see that my user IS connected. Idle, but
connected. When I try to just refresh the remote side of my site,
nothing shows on the FTP server. Connection is still idle. If I
disconnect and reconnect (like in #4 above), I see a new user
connection, and it works for a while, then goes idle and stays idle.
And we start all over again.

Point is, FTP isn't staying connected, and it's not the server, nor
the connection to the net on my side. This same thing happens no
matter where I'm connected.

I have no firewall software - and even when I turn off Little Snitch,
it does the same thing. Changing the FTP timeout values has
absolutely no effect. Passive mode didn't help either. And I have
tried turning on and off FTP performance setting.. nada.

Anyone have a clue or a suggestion?

Thanks, in advance..

After several months away - I come back and find this forum very
sluggish - what's happened ?

Has another forum taken a lot of the traffic ??
Macromedia/Adobe has shut down its support for the mailing lists.

I did see a post here a few weeks ago saying that Adobe had given up
this group to Google groups. Now don’t quote me on this but I did see
a Google / Adobe group.
