Default Creating web sites with stretchable pages that fill thebrowser's window from left to right on most resolutions - 09-15-2006 , 06:13 PM

:confused; Any one please help...
I made a web site: www.arturosmarcoisland.com (Check it out to get a better
idea).
I would like for the web page listed above to fill the browser's window from
left to right (straight across, no border around the site). The way I have the
site now you can get that effect, but on screens with lower resolutions like
800 by 600, and 1024 by 768 the page loads to the far left and you need to move
the horizontal bar on your web browser to see the page in the center (so it
looks correct with the center of the design in the browser's center).

What I would like to achieve is having this web site:
www.arturosmarcoisland.com to load correctly centered in the browser. And have
the sides of the design act like tables that display the side graphics in the
space left over from the center content of the site. In other words if the site
is displayed on a 1024 by 768 screen the main content will be in the center,
then the space left over on the left and right side would have adjustable
tables with a graphic on each side. On the 1024 by 768 screen you see the side
tables' graphical content on either side, but an 800 by 600 browser window
would only have enough room to display the Center table of the site. Becouse
there is no room on the sides for the 800 by 600 window, the left and right
side's graphical content is NOT displayed. The side's content is "non-dominant"
meaning that the sides' windows will fill in on the sides to give that straight
across the window effect. the side content does not need to be seen 100
percent, just to fill in the space on the sides of the center to achieve a wide
look of the site. the center content would be the dominant content that needs
to be seen in the center at all times.

Please take a look at my site: www.arturosmarcoisland.com it will help make
sense of what I am trying to type.

I realize I will need to chop up the site into tables. I don't know how to
layout the tables correctly in Dream Weaver to achieve this effect.

Anyone please, please, please, please, help.............
Many Thanks to anyone who could help,
Bobhttp://www.arturosmarcoisland.com

The first I would do is reduce the load time of your first page. It takes
far too long to load. I have a 4mb d/l connection and took over 30secs to
load. God help the poor people.

You might have to wait until Monday for a comprehensive answer but:

It took a minute to arrive on my DSL 384kbps and no button to turn off the
music which is a pain while I'm listening to the radio or a CD.

You've used DW Layout Mode which will *always* give problems as it lies to
you.
I'd suggest using nested tables for what you want to achieve - however, I
have not used them myself so cannot substantiate this.

As for

Hope this helps in the meantime
