Default Creating a Non Scrolling Homepage - 11-16-2004 , 08:59 AM





How do I create a homepage in Dreamweaver MX that is static and does not have a
right-hand scroll bar? I want my site to fit in the window the user opens
without having to scroll down to see the remainder of the page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How large is that window? And while you're at it, how long is this piece of
string?

I think this will work on a javascript even though I dont see that much
recomenable for the reason that not everyone has JS activated. A second
solution would be CSS on a % positioning. This will make the space
relative.

Another solution is put a 5 cell table and work on the middle one giving a
relative size the othe periferials. of 1%

All that does is make it so the scroll bars don't appear if they are not
needed. As soon as the content goes past the fold, scroll bars appear. The
OP wants to make it so the scroll bars never appear.

Flash is the only way (that I know of) to avoid scroll bars. You can set up
Flash to scale with the size of the window, so the page always appears
appear in the browser window without scrolling.

It works, I was just posting that for a non flash point of view, as for not
validating.....I could not care less about something so trivial, I wouldn't
use it myself, but if a client wanted it I honestly don't see a problem. It
won't crash a browser and it won't kill anyone, sometimes Invalid HTML means
SFA.
