Default converting html page into a template - 07-05-2004 , 12:31 PM






I have taken over a site where some of the pages are from a template and some
are not. I would like to convert the ones which are not into the template so
that when updates are needed my life is alot easier someone plz help!!!

This is sometimes not such an easy job. The best way to do it would be to
spawn a new page from the template, copy and paste from the existing file
into the new one, and then save the new file over the existing one.

How many files do you have to convert, how many templates are you using, and
how many editable regions within the body of the page do those templates
have?

Also, which version of DW are you using?

Depends...

But try this:

Create new pages from the template. Take the content from the
non-templated pages and paste into editable regions in these new ones.
If there's any particular code in the head of any doc, go into code view
and copy into the editable region in the head of the templated doc.

I suppose you need to test a bit.
