[Q]> The problem is that when I try to upload these files to my server, I

This is a host problem, not a DW problem. You should ask them why you
cannot upload these files.[/Q]

This is so not true. I am getting the "The file "xx" was skipped because the
old remote file could not be deleted." a lot and is very very very very
annoying. If i use explorers ftp or any other ftp client it works perfectly. I
am using DW CS3.

i'm assuming you're using windows. find one of the files that has the
wrong file type associated with it on your hard drive and right-click on
it and choose "Properties." where it says "open with" click the "change"
button and choose the correct program. make sure the "always use the
selected program" box is checked.

hope that helps!

oh, as for your other problem, not sure if this would matter, but try
changing the file name to having no spaces. you should never have spaces
in file names anyway.

Yes, I understand this. But to my surprise when I go the website folder
that's on my hard drive, some of the flash video files are now "plain text
document" and even some of the mp3 files are now "plain text document."

I can easily upload the "plain text document" files, however, if I upload the
few flash videos and mp3 files that are tagged Movie and Audio, I receive the
following error from my server:

"Some files were skipped during the last operation. A list of these files has
been logged in the FTP Log Window."

When I hit "View Log" this is what I get:

CWD /music/mp3s
250 CWD command successful.
PORT 192,168,0,3,193,40
200 PORT command successful.
TYPE A
200 Type set to A.
LIST
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.

10-28-05 10:37AM 2028074 fortuna_dame.mp3
12-28-07 11:58AM 1380421 Fortuna_freestyle.mp3

12-28-07 11:58AM 2609 neverbeenborn.html
12-28-07 11:58AM 2708 songsmp3.html
226 Transfer complete.

The file "music/mp3s/01 Loved by You.mp3" was skipped because the old remote
file could not be deleted.

I can contact my server and discuss this problem with them if you think it's
on their end.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

Fran

Thank you all for your input, however, I'm still encountering this problem. I
feel so much better knowing that Manuel also has this problem and it's not just
me. I thought it had to do with the file types, i.e., flash file or an mp3
file, but now I'm experiencing it also with other file types. Not all the
time, mind you.

Just to give an example, I'll upload a flash file and it uploads beautifully.
Then I'll duplicate the file, rename it for archival purposes, try to upload it
to the site, and I'll get this message "The file "xx" was skipped because the
old remote file could not be deleted." And the upload was unsuccessful.

Yet, when someone else uploads the same file on another computer (it's a pc -
i have a mac), it'll work beautifully. No problems.

What could it be?

Thanks again.

Manuel, I found the answer!

"Apparently you get this because the remote disk you are trying to write to is
full. Try deleting some files on the server and do it again. Otherwise, if it's
a hosted account, contact your host and ask them to check available disk space
on your server."

I deleted all files that were unnecessary on the server and retried uploading
some of my flash files and it worked!

If you can't delete files, you may need to increase your available disk space
on your server. Good luck.
