Contribute Setup

Hello,

My FTP remote site is fine and working no problem. Setting up contribute
however gives an error: Could not connect to the remote server.

I don't understand. Any help ?

I had a problem where DRMX would upload fine and pass its FTP "test" button test everytime, but, when I went down to the Contribute section (last category in the advanced tab of the site def panel) and tested there, I got a failure.

My memory is pretty hazy, but I am fairly sure this is the scenario.

The fix: The problem appeared to be odd webspace - that is, the webspace provider was using a server farm, and the webspace I was connecting to was actually an array of computers, all masquerading as being one computer on one IP address. I think it was this NAT (network address translation (I think)) process that was being used at their end, to allow several different PCs to appear to have (indeed *be*) the same IP address that the Contribute connection side of DRMX did not like.

So, the fix was (I think) that the webspace provider moved my webspace from a server farm to a single server with a non-NAT'ed IP address.
