You can clear a tables height and/or width in the properties box.

Somethings is bugging me, like an itch you can't scratch. What happened to
the DTD that should be automatically inserted when you create a new document
or template?

No real tutorials, but go here for explanation
http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/04/valid-dtd-list.html

The html 4.01 transitional is probably right for you I'd say

2. What do you mean by "title" in a link?
Check the above link for info on this too.

3. It seems that DW is setting a table height for me automatically.
How do I delete it? By removing completely or what?

Highlight the table tag in the bottom left of DW and delete the height in
the property inspector.

You're doing a fine job

1. How do I determine doc type? (tutorial on this?)

2. What do you mean by "title" in a link?

a href="default.asp" title="This is our Home Page">Whatever you want here
(image, text, etc)</a

3. It seems that DW is setting a table height for me automatically.
How do I delete it? By removing completely or what?

Nadia already told you about that

Thierry,

thanks for the info. All good advice. But I have questions (by which
you'll be able to tell that web design is *not* my main thing):

1. How do I determine doc type? (tutorial on this?)

2. What do you mean by "title" in a link?

***Thanks for the link. However, DW4 isn't putting a DTD in by
default...which is why my pages don't have it yet.

Appreciate the help, Terry...as always

I didn't say that and I can't take the credit for someone else's
post, even though I do use Lynx for testing :-)
I know, I just said that because Joe gave you credit earlier for mentionning
FF and the developer tools extension

As thenovice said, Lynx is cool too because it makes you look at
your markup in a very different way. I like to use the "disable
styles" feature in FF too

I haven't thought about installing Opera, is this compatible with XP Pro,

No problem.

What other browsers are worth having for checking purposes?
Currently I test with IE 5, IE 6, Opera 7.22, Mozilla 1.5, NN4 and Lynx.
Should be enough in most cases.
