Default Colours - Wishywashy / Cool???? - 07-09-2004 , 10:52 AM

Hello there,

Please can you help me settle an argument? I am redesigning our company
website and the colours I have used are meant to be a bit different from the
same dark blue, red etc. that are used. I think they look young and
funky...... some agree! Others think they look wishy-washy and should stick
to #003399 etc.

Each section is a different colour - see this by clicking on the first
option of each menu item. The colours used are shown on this link in an
image file. http://www.chase-international.com/test/Index.htm

What do you think?

Feel free to disagree with me

What does 'wishy-washy' mean in terms of colors?

The colors you picked are fine IMHO. Looks like a nice pallet to me.

FYI, I usually frown on making different sections of a site different
colors. It really doesn't add much to the user experience and often just
dilutes the visual identity for the site (it can also be difficult to scale)

Hi Darrel,

Sorry, might be a UK thing! I mean, dull/uninspiring/washed out

I am not overly keen on having different section colours either, but the
boss has spoken and the minion must obey!

Glad you like them

they are a bit bleached out, but it's just a matter of opinion whether
that's good or not, i say you do another more saturated palette and take
a vote.

When using that many colors, I think I prefer the less-saturated ones.
ESPECIALLY with nausea-inducing colors like orange or yellow. There's nothing
worse that a bright sinus-headache yellow. Again, it's opinion. But softer
yellows can be nice.

I agree completely. More saturation would, I think, really help focus
attention.

The images used for text are a bit "fuzzy" looking, I would be tempted to
use actual text.

Thanks for the comments!

I'll look at the images again.

It seems the debate continues!

Well, to the uneducated color person, compared to the kid's room primaries,
I guess they have a point.

But as a group, they seem vibrant, fresh, spring-like, modern, etc.

Are you a minion or an employee hired for your talent, skillset and
expertise?

;o)
