Roll over the 2nd thumb - this hasn't changed from the query I had yesterday
ie. the text appears in wrong col/style and ea time u roll off & on the word
appears a line lower!!??

Roll over the 1st thumb - the red band at the bottom of the image was the same
col values as the background... but it appears like this.

First thing -

14.3K 1 HTML/Text
638.9K 25 Images
653.2K Total size
26 HTTP requests

Your page is massively heavy which is why it's loading the way it is. Your
thumbs are ~20-30K each, and they should be no more than 4-5K when properly
optimized.

Your problem is that you are trying to match a JPG color with an HTML color
and that will never work, due to the way that JPG compression handles the
image bits.

I'll post again in an hour or so, with a more complete description for how
to solve your other problems, with a recommendation on method and
procedure....

Chances are you have your colour management settings in PS for CMYK.
Change these to RGB and then do your colour matching and all should be well.

I've just seemed to have cured the colour match!!! I took the RGB values of the
DW colour (as opposed to the web code) an applied this ti PS - it worked...?!!
I'll have a look at the thumb sizes, thx - appreciate there's probably many
more mistakes, but as a novice I don't know how to cure them or better approach
the build.

Just looked at the thumbs - how can I make the files smaller - they're just 72 dpi at 100%, saved as jpegs with 8 compression. r u saying compress them more?

As murray states, you simply can NOT match colors in a JPG to anything. JPG
compression will always shift the colors to some degree.

What you want to do is not 'fill in' the space with any background color.
Just trim the image. Alternatively, consider using GIF (might not be ideal)
or PNG (might work well) with transparency to avoid this issue altogether.
