Default In code view, spaces between the lines - 07-11-2004 , 01:50 AM

Whenever I work with somebody else on a website and I download the HTML (or
PHP) file they updated, I see spaces between the codes.

So the first line would have the code, the second line would be empty, the
third line has code -- all odd numbers would have codes, all even numbers empty.

This is annoying and increases the file size. And the other person I'm
working with don't see this problem.

I use a PC. I'm pretty sure the person I'm working with is also using a PC.
But it also happened with a web designer who worked on a Mac.

I can easily fix this annoying space problem by going to COMMAND > APPLY
SOURCE FORMATTING. However, since this is a collaboration and I am not alloyed
to spend so much time on the webpages and fix these spacing/formatting
problems, I want to know how the other person can update the webpages without
creating these spaces . We both use Dreamweaver MX. But I also noticed this
problem in the previous version of Dreamweaver as well.

Thanks in advance

Make sure that the EDIT | Preferences > Code Format > Line Break Type is
properly set for your HOST's OS.

This is caused by a mismatch between the type of line break used on your
computer and on the server. The most likely scenario is that you are on
a Windows machine and your server is a Unix/Linux machine. To fix it, in
your preferences, in the "code format" category, there is an option for
selecting the "Line break type". Set that to match the *server* by
choosing "LF(Unix)".
