Default Changed from Win98 to Win2000 - entry point cannot belocated now - 08-01-2005 , 09:28 AM

Hi All

Have changed OS from Win98 to Win2000, and now get this message when trying to
run Dreamweaver.exe:

"The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the
dynamic link library DBGHELP.dll"

.....and that is where it hangs up.

With the benefit of hindsight, I should have de-activated the installation in
case I needed a fresh install after the change of OS, but I didn't.

Any hints what I should do now?

Which DW? Is a reinstall possible?

As you know, W98 is a single user OS, and W2K is not. This means that
things are just not where they used to be, and it's likely that is the
source of the problem.

I am at my home computer now, so I can't give you the version no. of
Dreamweaver, but I purchased it less than a year ago - then it was the new and
current version.

My Win2000 is on a stand-alone computer, not networked to any other.

I am nervous to try a re-install lest it needs a fresh
"registration/activation" by MacroMedia - like a cat using up its nine lives.

Is there a department at MacroMedia which deals with issues like this? Maybe
there is a file from my old installation which will prove that my problem is
legit.?

So it's DMX2004, then, not DMX.

Don't be. If you are really nervous about it, open DW, and under HELP you
will find an option to deactivate the current installation. Then uninstall
it, and reinstall it. You can go through the activation step again without
losing anything.
(although I am not totally sure you really even need to do this - a
reinstall might just bypass that altogether).

Go ahead and do it. If you have an activation problem, contact Macromedia
Customer Service. They are pretty understanding.
