Default case sensitive link checking! - 09-01-2003 , 03:18 PM

Hi all,
I am in a big trouble now. Till now was working with the link
checker of Dreamweaver which is unfortunately a case insensitve one! I now
when I shift the pages to apache, I get problems of case sensitivity there!
Can people here please guide me how to go on now? Any short cuts other than
manually searching? (I cant do that...)

PRaying for an easy solution

Maybe you can make use of the extension called Caps and Case
Change v1.1.2 at http://www.kaosweaver.com
I haven't tried it myself, though....

you could try the trial version of HTML Rename
http://www.xlanguage.com/products/rename.htm
It has options to check and change the Filenames, folder names AND the html
links. (it may not follow all javascript links)

In future- it prevents problems to just use all lowercase filenames. One-
you can tell by looking. Two- If you ever do type out a filename by hand- if
you know it HAS to be all lowercase you've removed a bunch of possible wrong
choices.

if you only make the file choices using Dw's Browse to file, and the site is
on a local hard drive and not on a funky network or removable disk- Dw will
use the Same filename case that the file is. If you hand type the link- you
are correct- Dw will not find a problem linkchecking if the link is to
File.JPG and the file is name file.jpg

If you rename files in the dw site manager to make them lowercase- a tip:
You can't rename File.JPG to file.jpg in one step. Dw doesn't see any
change.

do it in two steps-
File.JPG to foofile.jpg (allow to update links)
foofile.jpg to file.jpg (allow to update links)
