Default Cartweaver advice - 12-02-2006 , 09:16 AM

Hello I am fairly new to website design and so far have only been doing
brochure websites my latest client would like a shopping cart included in their
website. ( I have told my client I have not done one before but am keen and
prepared to put in the late nights learning to do this)
From searching this forum I see cartweaver has been reccomended a few times
can anyone offer advice about how easy (or not) it is to use?
With cartweaver would cold fusion be the best choice from an learning curve
point of view?
Also is any one using cartweaver on an INTEL mac and are there any issues with
it?

Thank you,

Shontelle

Shontelle, there are no issues whatsoever with CW on Intel, and with CF. I
have that exact set-up and it works just nicely. You'll of course need to
move to mysql and not access, but this is not a huge jump if you have a
little idea about databases, and sql.
I'd recommend CF ahead of php or asp for a beginner, IMO, being tag based,
it is very easy to learn, and decipher. The CW team have produced a great
product, and most/all of the code is thoroughly commented, so you can find
your way round, what each bit of code does etc. Any more Q's - just ask, or
pop over into their news group, and ask some of the regulars.

Is Cartweaver an adobe product? it does not appear on the adobe list of
products (unless I missed it somewhere) but the adobe logo appears on the
carweaver site???

No it is not an Adobe product. Click the Adobe logo on the Cartweaver
site for more information about Adobe Solution Partners.

Take a look at www.ezcat.com . It will function within dreamweaver and
is very easy to use. It has a TON of very advanced and flexible
features and should be able to do what you need.
