Default Can't see Local Drive Files after upgrade to 2004 - 02-01-2004 , 05:40 AM

I just upgraded to MX 2004 (and also installed developers' coldfusion on my machine).

I NO LONGER see my ?local disk? (you know, desktop or C:\, D:\ etc.) files listed simultaneously with the web site files in the file panel. I can switch between local drives and web sites using the drop down, but this won't let me drag-and-drop ... or even copy.

What did I do wrong on the installation or in the settings?

THANKS for any and all help!

PJ

No .. it's one at a time if the panel is collapsed. However, click on the
icon to the far right of the panel and the panel will expand to full view so
you can now see both local (defaults on the right) and remote (on the left).

Nancy-

THANK YOU for responding. I need to clarify a bit better. The problem I am having is not seeing my local disk files, ... you know, ... the files on my c: and d: drives. I used to be able to drag and drop these into my website files as shown in the local or remote views - because they both showed in the DW MX views:
+ website (expand) <local or remote>
+ desktop (expand) <always here>

Now in 2004, I can only see one at a time in the view: local website, remote, c: drive, etc. This makes dragging and dropping impossible.

Thanks again!

PJ

They have moved it to the site list. Scroll to the top of the list and
you'll see it there.

PJ saw it there. The complaint was the inability to drag a file from outside
the site and drop it into the site.

Default So how do YOU drag and drop from your PC to your site? - 02-02-2004 , 07:12 AM

In DW MX, I was able to see both the site on which I was working and my PC Desktop (both expandable) in the "files" window/frame. Now in MX 2004, I can only see my site *OR* my desktop files. This means that I cannot drag and drop or even copy. DO YOU SEE both in the same "files" window?

THANKS again for all thoughts/help.

PJ

pj5:

No - not in DMX2004. I just pop up Explorer, and copy files into the site
when I need to.

I just posted this same question.....sorry I missed your post. It looks like s/w developers who do not develop websites took away a very useful feature. I can't figure out how to do it anymore either. It looks like we'll have to use Windows Explorer now. I just upgraded Friday. I hope I don't find anymore surprises......

You can still copy and paste from within the FILE panel. You just can't
click and drag.
