Aargh. DW8 is giving me the fits. I am familiar with templates, editable regions, etc... I have a site with 30+ pages, all content for each page is in the same editable region... but on this one page, I am unable to make any changes http://erakanab.com/buyer_info.html Obviously it was working, cause I built this whole form... but now I am trying to insert some javascript and I get that stupid "You have made changes to code that is not marked as editable..." warning! I got around it a few times by exiting and restarting DW - but then, after one or two changes, I get the error again. AND if I choose "yes", it still discards the changes. What gives? Is this page somehow corrupt? What is the recommended way out of this endless error loop? -- Michael Evangelista Evangelista Design / Evangelista Consulting, inc. www.evangelista-web.com Custom Small Business Website Solutions |

The page has an HTML4.01 doctype but XHTML markup. It has content below </head> and above <body> (ew). It is missing the P7 js functions. And so on. As for the doctype, y'know Murray I am still a recovering NOF-user... is there a simple rule to use for Doctypes on all my new pages? |
|
Ya know... that code (the jscript) aint where I put it... and those default styles were inserted entirely by DW. --- is there some way to turn that off? I almost never use any on-page DW-created styles - but sometimes DW writes a style like that when I am just 'looking' at how something would appear. I would much rather these styles get auto-written inline, rather than in the head of the page. anyway... it IS my fault of course. somehow on my template - from which all of these pages are spawned - the /head> tag migrated north...which placed it above various things at the previous end of the head section... down boy! That is what will happen if you turn off the option above, but css is a better solution. However, if you plan to use css, it is better to do it with fore-knowledge of how it works and then build the styles you need and apply them instead of letting DW make and apply "classitis" rules as it pleases.
