can't access server FTP error(why?)

Can anyone help me figure out why I'm getting an access dialog box that says
(FTP error, server response unknown, cannot connect to host), when I try to
connect to one of my sites remotely I always get this and it will not let me
access it but all the other sites are accessable and managed the same way. My
hosting comany does not know why this is happening and they say that it should
be accessable to me.
does anyone know the answer to this puzzle, I would really apreciate it, and

Make sure DW is set to use passive FTP (the box is unchecked by default).
