Cannot perform table cell functions in Dreamweaver MX

first thing to check is if you are in dreaded Layout Mode.

menu-->View-->Tables-->Regular Table Editing.

stay there, and forget there is such a thing as Layout Mode.

Hi - I just loaded Dreamweaver MX (not 2004) aka 6.1. I
created a simple 2 X 2 table, and tried to select a column
to insert more cells. The program won't let me select the
cells. In addition, the Table function is grayed out in the
insert menu, and everything except the clear and convert
functions are grayed out in the Modify/Table menu.
