Default cannot determine remote server time - 04-20-2004 , 02:27 AM

I am a student, I had used dreamweaver mx w/o a hitch, uploaded trial ver mx
2004. now cannot view remote files (error msg: Dreamweaver cannot determine the
remote server time - The select newer & synch comd will not be avail). When I
attempt to upload files to server, error msg: FTP error occured, 500 illegal
port range rejected. Does anyone know what happened? or even better, how to
correct the problem

This usually means there is a server permissions error. Check these links
for more info:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/xyiznwsk.htm

http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/troubleshooting_ftp.htm
(watch the line wrap)
Lots of articles on the above page.

Most commonly, you'll need to contact your host and send them your ftp log
so they can see what's going on.

Thank you, I'll check through your references and see if I can muddle through it.

Not sure about MX2004 but if same as 4.0, I go to preferences Sites and
there's a button there that links to your host. I think it sets your
timezone. I've found that sometimes clears the problem you've
encountered. (Can't remember exact option as I can no longer FTP from
Dreamweaver)

Hosting com. ran tracert and had me connect to my account on dreamweaver on
another computer. That indicated problem was on my pc dreamweaver. I
uninstalled and reinstalled dreamweaver w/o any positive result.

What can I do next?

By the way I checked in preferences and could not locate any time settings other than ftp time out under "website"
