I personnaly never check cross browser compatibility using the DMX 2004
integrated browser check, because:
1. It won't SHOW visual rendering differences that are not accounted as
incompatibilities
2. It will list numerous incompatibilities that are irrelevant in terms
of visual rendering.
3. It doesn't take in consideration platform versions (IE5 for Windows
is not the same as IE5 for Mac)
What I do instead, is I test "for real", on IE4, IE5, Opera, Safari,
FireFox, Netscape 4 and Netscape 7.
When my site looks and behave the same on all these browsers, there is
no doubt in my mind that I'm done, even though the DM browser check
feature will still account for numerous "incompatibilities"...

It's a waste of space if you ask me lol... there old browsers you'll never
use
them for anything but checking for errors which dreamweaver dose for
you...
DW checks for errors but can't possibly account for every variable in the
actual browser.
If you are professional, you need to produce professional work and to do so,
you need to be aware of all the little idiosynchracies in the browser out
there.
