Default can a dwmx template be based on frames? - 07-12-2004 , 07:41 PM

can a dwmx template be based on frames? i have a simple frames based layout
which has a static bottom frame and a changeable top frame which contains the
editable regions.

see http://www.plushdesign.net/frametest.html for sample.

thanks!

Frames are evil things... they confuse search engines and mess with people not to mention the oldest browsers don't even suport them.
If I were you I'd run while I still could.

sigh, i was hoping that distinction was a thing of the past (having not
ventured into framedom for many years)

do you think a text scroller would be better? i tried to implement one but the
scrolling text would have to be inside its own table, and i didnt want that to
be confusing to the script/browser.

No - you cannot make a template from a frameset file. But you can make
templates of each individual frame in a frameset.

Make sure you have your facts right. Frames don't confuse search engines -
they confuse people who use search engines. And frames are compatible with
v3+ browsers. If you are worried about v3 browsers, you'd bettter have
pretty plain pages.
