Default - Can Dreamweaver upload files using non-FTP alternatives? - 07-01-2004 , 04:55 PM

DW traditionally uses FTP to upload/replace files directly on the server.

Due to the supposed non-secure nature of FTP (I don't know enough about it
to debate it), I've been asked if the program will support other protocols
(for lack of proper terminology) like SSH, or SFTP, or SCP, etc.

(whatever those things are)

Does it? Because they're recommending I install something else to access the
server via those routes (apparently FTP isn't safe enough) and I'd rather
not use a 3rd party program solely to upload files.

Thanks!

PS: I am using DWMX (6.0), soon upgrading to 7.1

In the Edit Site dialog box, go to the advanced tab, "Remote Info" and
check the [x] Use SSH encrypted secure login. I haven't used it (my
primary host doesn't support it yet), so I can't tell you from experience
how well it works.
