Place a layer inside a table and change the layer position to relative - the
layer disappears from the layers panel but retains all of its layer information
(name, z etc.)

Change the layer back to absolute and the layer panel correctly displays the
layer again. Its a bit of a pain as I am not able to manage layers in the
layers panel (moving layer depth).
