Default Browser failure - 07-03-2004 , 11:22 PM

I cannot open websites in either IE6 or Netscape7 that I can access, as an
editor, in Dreamweaver!! All other websites still work fine.

The message in IE6 is "Page cannot be displayed .... etc."

Has Dreamweaver locked me out?? Any suggestions??

Tks Peter Mc

It's unlikely that DreamWeaver has locked you out.
- Do you have an internet connection?
- How are you sure you have an internet connection?
- Are you running a firewall? Any other kind of blocking software?
- Can you open html files on your local machine?

Connected full time to cable via router, relying in the router as firewall.
Allother internet connections wok fine. All html and web based files can be
opened locally.

Have had problems with links that will not work, reporting as invalid, then
unable to delete/read properties??

Other PCs can open the sites!

Cheers

Can you give me an explicit set of steps that define the problem you are
having? I'm not sure I understand where this error occurs in your workflow.

After successfully uploading pages from DW4 I have been unable to open the
sites to confirm using the browsers. Subsequently learned that others cannot
open either - but DW can! I have passed this to the ISPs.

www.qoa.asn.au is one.

Why is this so??

Cheers

www.qoa.asn.au
that doesn't go anywhere. And can't go anywhere.

Sure you have the subdomain and domain name correct?
How long have they been setup?

These don't go anywhere either-
qoa.asn.au
or
asn.au
www.asn.au

http://whois.aunic.net/

"Whois Response for asn.au:

No Data Found

As Far As I Know-- if there is no second level domain name of asn.au
regisered with the .AU TLD then there can't be a subdomain set up using that
2cd level domain name.

There has to be a com or net missing before the au.

asn.com.au takes you to: http://www.australiansportsnutrition.com.au/

Not sure if this is correct or not though

Domain names with .asn.au are used downunder. If you do a search for
'orienteering, australia, ugly gully' in Google it will list the site. (QOA is
Queensland Orienteering Association). Website as been running for some years.

I have just spoken with one of our gurus and apparently the "name server" is
down or we have been thrown off!! He couldn't explain the DW access still
being good!!

Cheers

PS www.qldrogaine.asn.au is another asn that is also inaccessable!!

PPS As a sport rogaining takes precedence over orienteering in my opinion.

Okay, but it has nothing to do with dreamweaver.

the DNS server is down, or the domain name has expired. Or the people
handling the DNS for that subdomain have their thumb up where it ain't
doing any good.

google references doing a search on the terms you supplied for the group's
name:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Queensland+Orienteering+A
ssociation&btnG=Google+Search

that does list a result for
www.qoa.asn.au/
So there IS/WAS a site.

google cache of the site they found at www.qoa.asn.au/
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:EB2uFoBPrH4J:www.qoa.asn.au/+Queensland
+Orienteering+Association&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

but- that address by itself comes up NOTHING for me in all attempts to
resolve it now. So- it's expired or the DNS server is on the fritz.

it doesn't exist. it's not a valid url- it won't resolve. The site is
somewhere- but the qoa.asn.au address ain't gonna lead anybody to it.

i'm not an .au specialist, in trying to find Registrars i see some that
handle .com.au and .net.au but haven't found who will let me buy .asn.au (or
will tell me that i CAN'T buy asn.au because it's owned or is in an expiry
period)

Your subdomain is controlled by whoever own's (or used to own) asn.au
Talk to them.
