Borders around layout cells

does anyone know how to put a border around a layout cell in DW?

if you do... how do you do it ;-) ?

Are you talking about borders around a table? If you place your cursor in the
cell you wish to have a border around, then right below the layout view window
there should be a string of small buttons with tags like <tr> <table> etc.
Click the furthermost <table> tag to the right and look at the bottom
properties window There is a section to set border width, color, etc. But,
here's the catch - it will only let you set border width and the like on an
entire table, not a cell within a table. If this table is your whole page and
you only want the border around only that one cell, you must add another table
inside the one that is there, but make this new table 1 row by 1 column, and
then impliment the above strategy for changing table border properties.

The term "Layout cell" is specific to Dreamweaver's Layout View, which you
should NOT be using. Seriously - get out of there and never return! Satan
lives in Layout View and you are bound to him as long as you are hanging out
in his favorite place to recruit followers. Go back to Standard View and you
will have a much smaller chance of screwing things up and a higher chance of
making things right.

That said, use CSS to pu t borders around table cells (NOT "layout cells" -
there really is no such thing). Here are some examples of borders and the
