Default Book on Dreamweaver - 11-03-2005 , 07:28 AM

Can anyone recommend a good book on Dreamweaver (intermediate level). I did
a search on amazon.com and found a few, including The Missing Manual for
Dreamweaver 8 (to be released shortly) which appears to be highly
recommended, and Training from the Source, published by Macromedia.

My local bookstore has a 50% discount on The Missing Manual for Dreamweaver
MX. Which version is this? I'm using MX2004 & DW8 trial. Should I wait
for DW8 Missing Manual or are there any other recommendations? I've gone
through Getting Started with DW8 & Fireworks (both by Macromedia) & I find
Using Fireworks 8 (Macromedia) a good reference. But I didn't print Using
DW8 as it's about 1000 pages! I found both the "Getting Started" series
very useful.

Thanks!

Yes. I would. So much has changed since version 6....

In the mean time visit the tutorials of the Macromedia website.

Missing Manual is definately the way to go. I used it for the mx2004 version and it helped me tremendously.

Actually, I think the tutorials on MM & a few third party websites
(project7, DWfaq, webthang, etc.) are more than adequate. There's nothing
like a hands-on tutorial to drum in the concepts.

However, some reading material especially when I'm in the toilet (or lying
down in bed) would also come in handy! Unfortunately, The Missing Manual is
a little heavy for this purpose!

If you're looking for something a little lighter, and you're interested
in developing websites with PHP, you might want to take a look at my new
book "Foundation PHP for Dreamweaver 8". The official publication date
is 19 December, but I'm just proofreading the last chapter, so it may be
available sooner.

Totally unbiased opinion, of course, but it's nothing short of
brilliant. ;-)
