Default Beginner, I need some help - 07-08-2004 , 09:22 AM

I am having a really hard time getting started with Dreamweaver MX2004....

Does anyone know if you can just download certain parts of a website, and not
have to download the entire thing to work on it?

What is it that you are trying to do? The amount of the website that you
download is unrelated to your ability to edit pages within the website (as
long as you have downloaded at least one page and its dependent files).

If you need to see the structure of some page that you like you can save it
with your browser on your hard disk and then open it with Dreamweaver. If the
page doesn't displays correctly it's probably collegated to an external CSS. In
this case you have to watch at the code of the page to see the CSS address.
Then you have to save on the hard disk the CSS file too. Working with CSS can
be a little difficult for a beginner, but if you have any problem come back
here. I think that this is a good forum.

I want to download 1 portion of a website to change. With the download feature in dreamweaver, it doesn't give you the option to download 1 portion, it downloads the entire thing.

Sure it does. Connect to the site, find the portion you want to download in
the remote file display, select it, and GET that portion.
