Default Batch process one template to many documents - 07-17-2003 , 02:46 PM

Hello all,

I have created a simple template in Dreamweaver that I want to apply now to several documents. It appears I have to open each document and do them one at a time. Tedious. Is there a way to batch this process?

Thanks in advance,

Not that I could find. I seached for almost a week and NO DICE!

I had to cut and paste about 5,000 pages. Fun. I even asked around if someone could make this for me (for a price even!) and nobody responded.

Seems Macromedia would create this one, since mega users have been asking for it!!!

Macromedia... WHERE ARE YOU!

You know what? Fireworks MX has a convenient batch process command from the file menu that has saved me tons of time (in processing Powerpoint slides, for instance). Seems to me that a batch command for Dreamweaver is logically (and desperately) needed.

By the way, I was able to simplify some of the work by recording a command (a macro in other words).

Thanks for the input!

Glen

Hi Glen

Obviously I haven't seen your template or original web pages but this is
what I would try.

Backup all pages first !!!

I would use the find and replace tool - test on one page and then apply
sitewide.

First of all I would strip out the redundant code. Then I would add in the
template code. You may need to do it in stages and it may not work. Worth
experimenting - especially if there are 100's of pages.
