Default Basic Problem - 11-03-2005 , 11:54 AM

Did anyone notice that when you "put" or "get" files they are many times added
as duplicates to the local or remote site.................
I thought that newer files that are copied should overwrite the older files
Why is it doing this and how can you fix it?????????

Thank you
GK

You cannot get duplicates. No operating system in existence will allow two
files with the same name in the same folder.

Duplicates are being placed , but they are not being put into the same folder.

for example if I have different gorups of files such as www, images,
prodimages....the duplicates will be placed randomly in different folders.

Can I direct which folder I am "putting" to?????????

Thank Yu for replying

If this is what you are getting then you do not have your local/remote sites
defined properly.

Please tell me what is in the following fields of the advanced tab of your
site definitions -

LOCAL - Local root folder field
REMOTE - Host directory field

tHE LOCAL IS--- C:\backup hdd\unzipped\website
The host is blank............the FTP host is my website name and they told me
to leave the remote host directory blank.

I noted that whn putting,,,,,,,,,,the files are always put outside the www root

What is the name of the www root folder? Put that in the host directory
field.

A very common one is public_html

but yours could be named something different.
