Default Background Image - 07-17-2004 , 03:16 PM

I'm not sure if it is my browser, and I'm pretty new to HTML. My background
image doesnt seem to be showing up in my header. The site is <a
href="http://www.find-your-realtor.com">Find a Realtor</a>. It is in the right
cell of the header. I am using netscape and it doesnt seem to be coming
through. Does netscape allow for background images?

Do you mean the three-banded blue background with the text
"Find-your-realtor.com" in the lower right hand corner? That's the only
background image I see on the page and I do see it using IE 6.0 and
WinXP-Pro.

This is the only background image on the page that I could see -

<td width="601" height="105" valign="bottom"
background="images/header-back.gif"

and I see it fine in IE6/WXPPro. It's possible that the original poster
isn't seeing it because it's being blocked, I guess....

I believe that Netscape does not support background images in cells. If you want an image to be visible in Netscape, don't apply it as a background - just put it in the cell.

It's the right cell of the first table. PRobably is the only background image
on the page. Yeah, Its fine in IE. Must just be a netscape thing. I guess I
could have an image of the full header, then apply that as a background to the
table. Thanks your the help!!

That's incorrect.

Netscape will support background images in cells just fine.

Hmmm....

Every time I've used a background image in a table, DW gives me a browser
check error and tells me specifically "the background attribute of the TD tag
is not supported" by Netscape Navigator 6.0 and 7.0.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on the browser checker in DW., you can always
do a validation check at www.w3.org if needed.
This link may also be of some help

DW's browser checker is riddled with errors. You've found one of them.
