Default asp or cgi - 07-12-2004 , 10:38 AM

Hi,

I have previously posted looking for free cgi search scripts and had some
interesting results. After speaking to someone, I believe that an asp search
page is quite easy to build using dw mx 2004. I will be using a windows server.

So, do I need any other technologies other than DW, a macromedia dw guidebook
and access to the server?

I am not using any databases.

regards,
tamacbam

Dreamweaver doesn't really have any "point and click" solution for site
searches.

What you really need is a script that spiders your web page.

Have you heard of Atomz?

Its a good way to easily add a spidering search to your pages. The
results pages can be customized to the look of your own site.

Hope that helps.

As Gordon suggests, Atomz is a good solution if your page count is low (free
for <500 pages).

Otherwise, if you'd like to do it yourself, you could look into querying
Microsoft Index Services if you've got static pages. It's pretty effective,
and should already be installed on your server. You can query it with ASP
with no problems.
