Default Applying Templates... - 07-08-2004 , 02:48 AM

Hi,
Is there a way to "batch" apply templates? Or apply them one to a whole
folder or site? I have many pages generated by iPhoto as a web photo gallery,
and I would like to apply a template to them, but not go through it for each
page!

Thanks,
Brian

Nope. Sorry.

The very best and most troublefree way to do this is to spawn a new page
from the template, copy and paste content from the existing page, and then
overwrite the existing page with the new one.

It's tedious but it will get the job done properly.

Thanks for the response. That's a drag! With all the photo galleries, we
could be talking about 100+ pages here. Maybe I can use Applescript or
QuiKeys. What about using Find/Replace and just putting the code for a
template and and the region markers, etc. so that is matches a page created
from one? Will this freak-out DW?

Thanks again...
Brian

mst:

Actually, it is the right thing to do. Imagine a template with two editable
regions in the body. How would DW know which content to put where?

Given the markup that needs to be added, I doubt it.

You could try. You would need to have 4 separate F&R sessions just to get
the basic template markup infrastructure in place, and then two additional
ones for each editable region in the body. I wouldn't attempt it, but you
might be more courageous....
