Anyone else having problems synchronizing?

Hey DW users - I'm fairly new to DW, been using it a few months now. I had used
FrontPage, and really like a lot of the features of DW a lot better. Recently,
I shifted from using CuteFTP to upload my files to using the integrated Sites
feature, so I could use some more of the link checking and "mirroring" features
of the sites. I was especially anxious to delete a bunch of files on the remote
server that had been retired. However, the site synchronization only works
sporadically. If I try to examine the whole site, or even a larger portion of
the directory tree, it times out. If I try to delete my files from my test
server, in fact, Dreamweaver crashes every time. (fatal exception). I'm just
wondering if anyone else is having the same issues. I've downloaded and
installed the recommended update pack for my Dreamweaver MX version 6, and it
didn't help. Should I upgrade to MX 2004?

To be honest the synchonise function has been a little bit flakey in all
versions of DW as there seems to be a lot of variables in what affects its
performance. I certainly would not recommend an upgarde to version 7 solely
on that. I would think that if you polled a number of DW users that the
majority do not in fact use it.
