Default Is anyone alive at Macromedia? - 11-09-2005 , 04:48 AM

Hi,

I can't connect to my html srever since I have updated my Dreamweaver 3 to
DM8. This mean I have to manually sftp my files.

I posted 2 messages about my problem in this forum and submit a form at the
Macromedia support page. Results: NEVER received any response from Macromedia.
What am I expected to do? Uninstall DM8 and ask for my money back???

I think this is the first time I asked support to a s/w company and got not a
single reply.

regards

I'll see if I can escalate it. What is your trouble ticket number?

Have you been through this troubleshooting guide?

Also, here's a tool that might help you -

Did you read the link to the FTP troubleshooting guide that I posted?

Have you enabled Passive FTP for the remote server's definition in DW?

As I said, it didn't help very much till now. I'm running through it as it is
quite long. BTW, most of the document you mention is oriented to ftp
connection, not to sftp.

I will report what I wrote in my earlier post
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=189&thre
adid=1077173&highlight_key=y

A few days ago I started using DW 8, after several years of successfull use of
DW 3. The reason I updated is mainly because of the sftp option of the more
recent versions.

Unfortunately, I experienced since the beginning an "ftp error" when I try to
connect or test the connection. Also the "test connection" button gives me the
same error.

I use sftp connection to connect to my server.
I checked/unchecked all the boxes (use passive ftp etc.) I found with no
success.
I can connect to the same site using CoreFTP, a freeware for ftp connection
I can connect to another site using the same DW8 on the same computer (running
XP).
I switched off the firewall (Zonealarm) on the client.
I switched off the firewall on the server (suse 9.2, Apache 2.x).
My Windows firewall is always off.
I have Norton Antivirus and I don't want to qui it for safety reason. BTW I do
not understand why the connection should work with a server but not with
another when Norton is on.

This suggestion is reported almost everywhere. However, I think that any user
that got into this problem immediately try to check and uncheck all the buttons
he found, including the Passive FTP.

Thanks and regards,

Hi pcalisse

We apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Apparently you contacted
North American tech support and we discovered there was a mix up in
transferring your e-mail to the European support queue. Someone from tech
support will contact you ASAP. For future reference, to contact European
support, please use the information on this web page:
