Default Any .NET Developers using Dreamweaver? - 11-11-2004 , 08:26 AM

Let me start by saying that VS.NET's design interface SUCKS. It looks as
thought it's improved somewhat in the beta release of VS.NET 2005 to be more
inline with some of the common design behaviors of Dreamweaver and FP2003
(such as clicking on an object in design view, and being taken directly to
that object when switching to code view.)

Because we develop some extensive .NET applications here, I often have to
have both Dreamweaver and VS.NET running at the same time....Dreamweaver for
Design & VS.NET for coding (which actually gets quite annoying.) Does
Dreamweaver MX2004 support code-behind, debugging, and the ability to build
(compile) the project and I've overlooked it, or is this a capability that
might be supported by future versions of Dreamweaver?

It would be nice to stick with one IDE.

Jules is one our resident .NET/Dreamweaver afficianados. He has a nice
article that discusses some of the ways you can use DMX and VS.NET together.
Perhaps you could start here:

I'm sure Jules and Kevin will both chime in with their views.

Best regards,
Chris

Yeah, I find that Dreamweaver and VS work quite nicely with each other. I
build the UI in DW and then write/compile the code in VS. Not ideal perhaps,
but OK for me. DW will never have the coding capabilities of VS, and VS will
never have the design tools of DW.

Yep...I think we're all on the same page here. So I guess I'll just
continue doing what I've been doing. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't
missed something.

BTW, the intellisense in Beta 2005 has improved quite a bit...and there's no
more switching back and forth from HTML view to Design view to force new
objects (added in VS) to register in the .vb

Thanks,
