Yes. But that's me.

Personally, I don't know a single "normal" surfer who is even aware that you
can download and install a browser. I never consider Opera in the sites
that I build.

Osgood,
I'll try to figure out your tips! Yes, it needs to work in Opera too.
Safari
is also getting a foothold isn't it?
John

Yes that is ok and a method which I have tried and works quite
well.
You
need firstly of course to insert a relatively positioned <div> in
the
trigger cell, then inside the relatively positioned <div> you need
to
insert the absolutely positioned <div> for the submenu.

A submenu <div> has to be absolutely positioned otherwsie you cant
show
or hide it.

Oh by the way Opera of course doesnt not work well with the snap
layers
script if that a concern for you.

I can believe that Murray - not everyone is either
A. a computer nerd

or

B. working in I.T.

If I wasn't in I.T. i wouldn't give a crap if MS have a monopoly as long as
my PC switched on a worked.

Good for them!

I think it uses some of the Opera internals, but I have no clue which, or
why.

Hi Osgood,
This works in IE 6 and NS 7, not NS 4.08 though. The menu layer appears
against the left side of the browser onMouseover. If I make the outer DIV
'relative' [How do I do that?] will it align in NS 4.08? Also why is it
necessary to make it relative?

Doing it without the outer DIV also works in IE 6 and NS 7 by the way.

----------------

<table width="748" border="1" align="center" cellpadding="0"
cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td><a href="#" onMouseOver="MM_showHideLayers('Layer1','','show') "
onMouseOut="MM_showHideLayers('Layer1','','hide')" >
nav link 0</a>
<div><div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; width:200px;
height:115px; z-index:1; background: #99CCCC; layer-background-color:
#99CCCC; border: 1px none #000000; top: 33px; visibility: hidden;">Subnav
Link 1</div></div>
</td>
<td><a href="#">nav link 1</a></td>
<td>nav link 2</td>
<td>nav link 3</td>
<td>nav link 4</td>
<td>nav link 5</td>
</tr>
</table>
-------------------

Thanks Osgood, hoping you can help!
John

I dont know if it will work in NN4x but i'll test it out. I dont hold
out much hope though.

If you just insert an absolutely positioned layer <div> in a table cell
without it being wrapped in a relatively positioned one, the chances are
it wont work in Mac IE5x. That browser gets layers placed in a table
cell terribly wrong.
