No - I never build tables like that, and anymore I don't use them unless I
have to anyhow....

Oh, I see? you manage everything with CSS. But if the tables are many more
than
one you'll have to define dozens of classes. It's a big deal and requires
a lot
of time? Mmmmh, maybe I know your answer?

A site like this: http://www.pequodedizioni.it/ without tables?

By the way: I haven't built that site. I just visit it cause I like their
books. So now I wonder how I could reproduce it without tables (there are too
many tables in this site, but with no one I can't figure it out). I think that
my problem would be to align correctly a lot of images without inserting them
in cells. Also the design of some csszengarden pages has strange behaviours
when you narrow too much the viewport. Maybe nobody, but me, narrows that way,
but?

That would be pretty simple.

An outer division to center things, and two inner divisions for the thumbs
and the navigation, respectively. The left inner would be float left and
the right inner would be float right.

Anything more challenging? 8)

Still awake!
The problem wouldn'be the one you solved but the images and text aligned
correctly inside the divisions. No problem for the right side, it's quite easy.
But in the left? The best way to align the images and text? No table at all?

A table would work nicely.
