VIT is a Microsoft FrontPage folder. Why would DW be writing to it? Good Q

The only time that I have seen this situation arise is when I took over a Front
Page 98 site and converted it to Dreamweaver. I never saw Dreamweaver mirror
any files into a _vti_cnf folder but there were a lot of files already living
in those folders when I took the site on. I'm also convinced that the damn
folders kept re-appearing after I deleted them but no-one believes me. You
should be able to delete these folders with no effect on the website operation.

DW isn't writing to it, IIS is.

I used to wonder about those types of folders as well. That is, until I read
this:

As long as the web site will no longer be maintained using Frontpage then you
should be fine after deleting them.
