Since when has adherence to the typographical conventions of a language
which was renamed for dubious marketing reasons had any correlation with
a person's understanding thereof?

A little humility on the parts of *all* posters in this newsgroup would
go a long way.

An obviously uninitiated person calling the collection of ECMAScript
implementations on the market nowadays a single language named "Javascript"
is (now: was) probably not aware that they are dealing with different
implementations of a Language Specification. Learning one language alone
does not suffice in order to be successful in the field of client-side
scripting, as I pointed out in the next paragraph which you had snipped.
